Got the opportunity to not only help incoming students have a great first experience on campus,but I also got a chance to get to know many new people and help them find ways to get connected and involved on campus.
Service
My direct service benefitted the community because I was able to help families/incoming students move into their dorm room with a positive attitude and show them how fun going to Memphis will be. I served the University of Memphis students population/ the residential and housing life; they were very appreciative of us helping with the move in. I worked as part of a team by helping push the bins as well as helping unload and load items with other people. The skill I learned was teamwork; since there were typically 2/3 people helping on a bin we would need to communicate on how much room we had to fit as well as help each other with moving the bins to the correct room. The person overseeing the project was MK, she is the director of student leadership and involvement, I would say overall she was clear on what we needed to do.
