This is one of my all time favorite volunteer events. My friend Kymora and I, were tasked with giving Phonexis the puppy one of the best days of her life. She was full of energy and great with Kids. She was a joy to be around and I have no doubt that she'll be adopted soon.
For this particular day, my friend and I were able to spend the day with Phoenix from Memphis Animal Services. The field trips provide different dogs every week with the opportunity to enjoy the day out with new people. But the possibility to find possible new families that are willing to adopt them. This helps to gets more homes for the dogs and alleviate over crowding. This experience was a people facing service and it involved with interacting with many people and families to advertise Phoenix. Many of the kids enjoyed meeting Phoenix and she was such a sweetie. But you could also see the joy her friendliness brought to many new people. A skill that I was able to develop were my communication skills. With the field trips, it involves interacting with new people and informing them on Memphis Animal Services. But I also had to provide them a little bit about Phoenix's personality so they could determine if she was a good fit for them. This service involved me working with one of my close friends. So we had to work together to ensure that Phoenix had a good time on the trip. But also contribute to advertising Phoenix so that she could find her a possible home. During this service, my friend and I were able to come across a family that seemed interested in possibly adopting her. I believe that we were able to make a possible impact in possibly getting Phoenix adopted. We were able to provide the family with the proper information about Memphis Animal Services. While also giving Memphis Animal Services a phone number from the family so that they be further informed about possibly adopting Phoenix.
Lunar was so well-behaved ! She was such a sweetie full of smiles 🥹🥰
I have always enjoyed volunteering at Memphis Animal Services. I volunteered in multiple capacities at MAS but have always enjoyed the foster field trip the most. When I take a dog into the community and out of the shelter, I feel like I'm making a difference in the dog's life. MAS staff stated that the field trips help the dogs get a break from the shelter and has improved their behavior. During our field trip, I took pictures of the dog and wrote about their behavior and things I noticed. This information is then used to help the dog get adopted and provides future adopters with more information about the dog. I will definitely continue to volunteer with MAS and hopefully make an impact on more dog's lives.
Me and Baylor had so much fun today at Shelby Farms! I loved getting to take her on a field trip!!
