SOAR Afterschool Program - Daily Program Volunteering

Today at SOAR we started with our usual time outside. The kids enjoyed this and then were split up into their clubs. I was once again with the detectives club but today they got the opportunity to watch a movie instead. We watched Brave and the kids really enjoyed it. It was so fun to get to see their reactions!

I volunteered on Thursday from 3 to 5 to help with the practice round of the Amazing Shake. I began by setting up the tables and putting names on the name tags for the volunteers. I greeted people as they arrived and helped pass out shirts. I enjoyed seeing how excited everyone was to participate in this. SOAR did an amazing job setting this up, and was well executed.

We played outside for the whole time and even did clubs outside since it was so nice out. I helped with painting club!

So since Amazing Shake was this week, that Wednesday technically served as a fun Wednesday. Which involved playing soccer and gaga ball outside. I also played a lot of board games with Silas and a couple of the other kids. Silas asked me if I wanted to play Sorry, so I agreed to, and it was an overall very competitive game. I am pretty sure I was losing pretty badly. It was a super fun day though!

When I got to SOAR I went to Kindness Club again! We cut out trees on construction paper and glued it to another piece of construction paper. Then we made green leaves to glue on the branches. On each leaf we wrote something we are grateful for. A lot of the kids wrote family, food, and teachers. I helped them outline some of their trees. Then we went to dinner and ate pizza. The kids kept asking me times tables and how old I was. It was really fun, and I can't wait for next week!
