This day was a family competition day. I helped with the students at the beginning then got moved to the Kitchen. I am very late to uploading my hours but it was so fun to watch all of the children have fun with their families for my last bit of volunteering.

This day was a fun Friday. Since there was a shortage of program leaders, I had to help out with the laser tag area. I was tasked with writing down the students' names as they came and signed up to play. I also got to use the walkie-talkie to call the students who signed up but left to do other activities. So while I was sitting there the kids would come up and talk to me and ask me questions as they waited for their turn. It was another great day at SOAR and I am very sad that my time here is coming to an end soon!
On this day I was assigned to a house, which ended up being Alturismo. Then the houses did a house competition, which was so fun to watch. Then it turned into just relatively fun rest of the day!
So since Amazing Shake was this week, that Wednesday technically served as a fun Wednesday. Which involved playing soccer and gaga ball outside. I also played a lot of board games with Silas and a couple of the other kids. Silas asked me if I wanted to play Sorry, so I agreed to, and it was an overall very competitive game. I am pretty sure I was losing pretty badly. It was a super fun day though!
For this day it was another fun Friday, however, it was raining that day! So to combat that we stayed inside played board games, laser tag, and super Mario smash bros on the WII. Overall it was another great day at SOAR and I am appreciating every moment that I have volunteering there!
Another fun day I got to attend. I was again played a lot of soccer with the students. It got competitive but overall a very fun game of soccer. I also played catch with a couple of the students with a football and learned how to actually play smashball. Another fun and great afternoon spent at SOAR Jones.
For this week there was lighting and tad bit of rain. So for the fun day even though they got a little outside time the students were relocated back inside for those activities. I took part in coloring with some of the students and playing board games. I think I lost almost every single game I played!
It was fun Friday. So at first I walked around to say hi to everyone, then I ended up playing a soccer match with a bunch of the kids. I am slowly starting to learn the chants, sometimes the are hard to hear, but overall another great day at SOAR Jones Center!
Today, I was with the older group at SOAR. We started by doing watercolor painting, where the kids were tasked with doing random drawings. Then, since it was very nice outside, SOAR went outside to play and do activities. A couple of the other leaders and some kids started a soccer game, which was extremely fun. I am pretty sure that my team definitely won. Other than that, it was another great day with SOAR.
To make up for lost time, I returned to volunteer the next day at the SOAR Jones Center location. On this day, I was put with the fifth graders this time. I met all of them at the beginning just by talking and playing games while they ate their snacks. We then went to the main room and did group members of the day with a couple of other announcements. I am slowly starting to learn the house chants one by one. After that, our group grabbed a kit at one of the classrooms. I forgot what they were called, but the students got to build an extraordinary construction mixed with science properties. Some students built a car that drove itself through the magnetic pull, some built an air pressure, and some built a different version of a ball launcher. After the time was up for their building time, they grabbed a book and started to read. I then said goodbye to the fifth graders and left.
