Today at SOAR we spilt up and did stations. I was put in the decorating station which helped put posters together for the family night on Friday. I helped make the Altruismo poster with two girls in my group. After stations were finished it was time for dinner. Overall it was a different schedule than usual but a fun day at SOAR!
This day was a fun Friday. Since there was a shortage of program leaders, I had to help out with the laser tag area. I was tasked with writing down the students' names as they came and signed up to play. I also got to use the walkie-talkie to call the students who signed up but left to do other activities. So while I was sitting there the kids would come up and talk to me and ask me questions as they waited for their turn. It was another great day at SOAR and I am very sad that my time here is coming to an end soon!
On Thursday, I volunteered from 3 to 5. I played outside and made slime with the kids. We played tag and we played with the chalk. Once it started to rain we went inside and then we made slime. It was so much fun helping the kids make slime! I was really sad that this was my last time volunteering. I will miss all the kids!
On this day I was assigned to a house, which ended up being Alturismo. Then the houses did a house competition, which was so fun to watch. Then it turned into just relatively fun rest of the day!
Today at SOAR I went to Kindness Club again. The kids were told to make a card for someone they love. They had construction paper, scissors, glue, and colored pencils to work with. One of the little girls I'm always with made one for me. It said "I like how you are nice." I told her I loved it and brought it home with me! At dinner the girls all sat by me and told me to tell them all the Spanish words I know. I told them I wasn't very good at Spanish, but they helped me pronounce the words I got wrong. It was a lot of fun and was a really chill day!
