Yesterday I volunteered to write letters for Family Network NWA. They give diapers to families that need them. With each diaper they give the family an encouraging note to uplift them. I wrote the notes yesterday and drew designs on them.

At SOAR I played in the gym as soon as I got there. I watched the kids build forts out of hula hoops. I played soccer with them and scored in the goal. Some also played dodgeball. Then we went inside to eat and the kids went to flex time.
Today at SOAR I went to Kindness Club again. The kids were told to make a card for someone they love. They had construction paper, scissors, glue, and colored pencils to work with. One of the little girls I'm always with made one for me. It said "I like how you are nice." I told her I loved it and brought it home with me! At dinner the girls all sat by me and told me to tell them all the Spanish words I know. I told them I wasn't very good at Spanish, but they helped me pronounce the words I got wrong. It was a lot of fun and was a really chill day!
When I got to SOAR I went to Kindness Club again! We cut out trees on construction paper and glued it to another piece of construction paper. Then we made green leaves to glue on the branches. On each leaf we wrote something we are grateful for. A lot of the kids wrote family, food, and teachers. I helped them outline some of their trees. Then we went to dinner and ate pizza. The kids kept asking me times tables and how old I was. It was really fun, and I can't wait for next week!
Today at SOAR I went to Kindness Club with my group! We did bingo cards and whoever got all of them completed the fastest won 5 group points. Each box had something like "find someone with green eyes" and the kids had to go around and find someone with green eyes to sign their paper. They all ran around asking each other questions until we were finished. Then we played hangman. After that we went to dinner and the children ate macaroni and cheese. It was a lot of fun, and I loved getting to go to a new club since it's the start of April!
Today at SOAR we went into clubs again. I went to the karaoke club! They did song requests, and the usual favorites were suggested. We sang APT, Baby by Justin Bieber, Die with a smile, Moana, and 7 years. At dinner we ate pizza. I played superpowers with a little boy using streamers. The little girls also liked playing with my glasses. Our clubs that we've been going to are about to swap, so I'm interested to see what I'll do next week!
It was a beautiful day today so we played outside until dinnertime. I started out playing with a kindergartener while he was digging in the dirt. After he was through, I went over to the swing set. One of the little girls in my group asked if I could push her on the swing. She and a boy in my group were having a competition to see who could swing the highest. Then I went to the playground with them to play tag. We went inside and had mac and cheese in the cafeteria. I saw another one of my favorite little girls who had been playing in the office while we were outside. I sat with her while she ate and then went home!
Today at SOAR we were split into clubs again. I went to the karaoke club with some of the kids who are normally in my group. We sang songs by Katy Perry, Justin Beiber, and Taylor Swift. After karaoke we went to eat dinner. The kids ate pizza and we talked about if we eat the crust or not. After that we did announcements, and I left. It was so fun, and I love that the kids remember who I am now!
Today at SOAR the children were not in their usual groups. I am normally with the same group of first graders every week. Today they were split into "clubs" containing children of multiple ages. I was put in a room with a club that was doing karaoke. A lot of the children were the ones I see every week. We sang Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. After karaoke club we went to the cafeteria for dinner. I sat with some of the little girls and they played with my hair after they finished eating. All of them wanted to play the game where you slap each other's hands with me. The time flew by at SOAR today, and normally I only stay until 5. I was having so much fun though and our activities ran a little late. I can't wait to go back next week!
Today was another fun day at SOAR George! When I arrived I went to my permanent group that I was assigned. They are 1st graders with some kindergarteners mixed in. A little girl I met last time was working on a Valentine's Day card for her family, and I showed her how to draw a star. We drew and made cards for about 40 minutes, and then we cleaned up. Then we all went to the cafeteria to eat dinner. I sat with two girls who were telling me all about their siblings and the kinds of food they like. They were very excited when I told them I would be back every Wednesday at the same time. I hope next week when I go, more of them will recognize me and learn my name!
