At the Habitat Restore site, my group and I landscaped a yard by planting a flowerbed and beatify the pathway of an elderly women, who is know in her neighborhood as Mother Mary. This beautification project could not have been without the help of everyone. First, we raked all of the leaves in the front yard and placed them in trash bags. After we finished raking the leaves, we arranged flower pots alongside her porch and then planted some flowers in a flowerbed. Along the pathway to her door, we planted ferns. As a team, we had to unload the heavy bags of soils and clean up any trash left behind. Before leaving the site, our team leader Sara Stemmer, asked everyone to reflect on this Day of Service. This was the first volunteer service I did were I really connected with the entire group; we not only enjoyed the work we were doing, but we appreciated each other company as we worked. I made two new friends from this Day of Service. Lastly, not only did I learned that will the help others a huge impact can made on one person, I also learned the importance of networking as I volunteer in my community.

We did more garden work, potted plants, and got to weed. This is my second time doing this particular service project, and I loved it even more having done it twice now.
