It was very engaging. I loved the activity that we did and I'm happy it's going towards a good cause! Definitely would do volunteer with International Paper again.
I listened to employees from International Paper talk about the importance of recycling. They talked about the types of products that can and can not be recycled. Also, they explained the best way to recycle a water bottle. They had a panel of employees that answered questions about their specialities within the job. We then did a service project together. I helped put together boxes of food that got donated to the Tiger Pantry on campus. We lined up with our boxes and walked around the room, gathering various dry goods and snacks. These food relief boxes will be available to any students on campus that need them.
By actively engaging in the activity, packaging food, and recycling food packages, we promoted sustainable practices within the broader community. Through my service, International Paper encouraged me to adopt eco-friendly habits which will ultimately contribute to the health of the environment. Everyone participated as a team in this event! We were first asked to open our assigned food/product and recycle the waste accordingly. Then, we made an assembly line to put everything into boxes. It was much more fun having my friends and other students around me than if it were just myself. My service aligned well with my personal belief in keeping the environment clean. Recycling even in small amounts makes a bigger difference than it might seem. I enjoy volunteering with International Paper every year because of their interactiveness toward students and the interesting information they present. I hope to continue volunteering with them next time!
I enjoyed being able to learn about recycling with International Paper! We were able to help the Tiger pantry on campus as well as recycle the materials the food was packaged in. It was a great way to help our campus community and environment with the knowledge we learned about recycling.
