I had an amazing time at the America Recycles Day of Service. I was able to learn the importance of recycling and how it affects the community and world. As a community we can recycle cans , bottles of water , cardboard boxes, and etc. We also made food boxes for the less fortunate. International Paper was very excited to see so many individuals there to help. During this event I was able to collaborate with others while making the food box. Working with others made the process go by much easier. Helping those in need is a passion of mine and I enjoyed making a difference. A few skills that I improved throughout the event were teamwork, communicating, and leadership.

This event benefited members and others because we learned how to recycle water bottles and cans. We learned what can be recycles and if you have to question if it can be recycled then just throw it away. We packaged boxes and tapped them. Inside the boxes were apple sauce, ramen noodles, granola bars, pasta, crackers, tuna, oatmeal, goldfish and miscellaneous items. By learning what I learned, I am now able to share my learning and make people more aware of what they can recycle and throw away. This helps my environment. I learned that the rate for recycling has went up about 30%. We worked as a team and that allowed us to get more done in a timely manner. I do plan to continue volunteering with this organization because I feel like they actually care about our environment and us and people. They fed us good food before we got to work. It was a nice slide presentation and the speakers answered many questions very thoroughly.
