In this service opportunity, I helped graduating art students install their pieces for the thesis show. I improved my collaboration skills by working closely with the artists to complete tasks efficiently. I assisted with arranging artwork, adjusting lighting, and ensuring that each piece was displayed securely. I also unloaded a kiln containing altar boxes and ceramic tiles to prepare them for installation. We worked together as a team, which made the experience more productive and enjoyable. The artists and professors guided me by clearly explaining what needed to be done. I learned that the art students are very collaborative and supportive during the installation of important events like this. This service aligns with my personal values of helping others and building connections. It felt meaningful to know that I was able to support my peers in completing their thesis show.

I had the opportunity to volunteer at Shelby Farms Park. I gave back to my local park by picking up approximately 60 pieces of trash and tracking it using the Litterati app. By picking up trash in the park, I realized the importance of creating a safer enviroment for the plants and wild life. For this experience, I worked in a group. I completed this volunteer opportunity with my brother. This opportunity impacted me by reminding me of the importance of spending time out in nature. Yes, I plan on continuing to clean up the parks surrounding Memphis. This service experience absolutely aligns with my personal values. I believe that it is important for everyone to do their part in keeping our world a clean place for all living things.

This service benefited the art community and supported two students in the completion and presentation of their artistic endeavors over the course of the semester. My contributions included assisting with the set up of an art opening by moving furniture, arranging displays, and adjusting lighting to ensure that everything was ready for the public to view. I believe this effort helped create a welcoming and organized environment for showcasing their impressive work to viewers. Through this opportunity, I gained a deeper understanding of what it means to work as part of a team. I was able to communicate effectively and problem-solve to overcome challenges as we worked together to bring their visions to life. This experience reinforced the value of collaboration in achieving shared goals. I also developed a greater appreciation for the effort that goes into the creation and display of hand-crafted art. Volunteering allowed me to feel connected to the art community, and it reminded me of how much I value creativity and the work of local artists. This volunteer experience aligns with my belief in the importance of supporting creative expression and assembling opportunities where student art can be appreciated. I look forward to continuing to contribute to similar creative efforts, as I have found that it is incredibly rewarding to be part of something that brings people together through art.

This service benefited Audubon park and the broader community. I helped improve the park by picking up trash, which allowed me to help create a safer and cleaner environment for the plants, animals, and people who use the space. I believe this effort supported the park’s overall mission to provide a healthy and sustainable space for everyone to enjoy. Through this experience, I developed a greater sense of environmental awareness, and an understanding of how my role plays into preserving natural spaces. I found that this service also reinforced the importance of spending time outdoors and connecting with nature. For this event, I worked alongside others and that caused me to see how our collective efforts were making a real impact in the park. This experience aligns with my personal values of protecting the environment and promoting community well-being. I definitely plan to continue serving at local parks because I believe everyone should contribute to keeping our shared spaces safe and clean for all living things.

I always enjoy volunteering with this organization, the members involved in the organization of this event are incredibly kind. During this visit, I helped assemble approximately 200 food relief boxes for families in Shelby County. I worked alongside church members and packed items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and beans into each box. Through this experience, I developed stronger organizational skills by mastering the packing process and ensuring each box contained the correct items. I worked as a part of a team and the shared effort made the experience more rewarding. I have attended this service opportunity multiple times and it has allowed me to make connections that have motivated me to continue participating in similar initiatives in the future. My efforts directly supported the organization's mission of providing food to those in need. The encouragement I received from the church members and organizers made the experience even more fulfilling. I definitely plan to continue volunteering with this group because I am grateful for the chance to make a meaningful difference in the memphis community.

This service opportunity allowed me to give back to families in need of food relief boxes within the Shelby County area. On this day, I helped in the process of the boxes being passed out to approximately 150 families. I worked alongside members of the organization by gathering completed forms and helping file them into their online system. This organization is partnered with the Midsouth Food Bank and has to compile a list of every family that recieves these boxes. This volunteer experience definitely aligns with my personal values and beliefs. I have learned through volunteering with this organization there is a great need for food relief in the Memphis/Shelby County area. Yes, I have enjoyed volunteering at this organization and I do plan on continuing because what they are doing to help the community is so incredibly important.
