Community Clean-Up

During this volunteer I was able to reflect on my waste management skills. I realized the amount of trash that can just be left in the street and it encouraged me to want to pay attention more to where I put my trash. This experience showed me the issue that cities have with littering. Many people around that area live busy lives, so they would rather just litter than going to throw away their trash. I worked as a part of a team as we all split off and were able to get different sections. That made the experience a lot more enjoyable as well as easier because there were so many others. The organization provided their support by giving us everything we needed to be successful. They gave is the trash bags, gloves, and a trash grabber. This service did align with my personal values because I want to be more environmentally conscious and this allows me to be directly in the community and make an impact.

I got to collect trash on the streets of Memphis to help beautify the community.
