My direct service at 901 Pop benefited the broader community because I was able to help prep crafts for a fundraiser 901 Pop was hosting. I was serving a wide array of people. Anybody was welcome to buy a fundraising box and give it to somebody who needed some joy around the Valentine's Day. Everybody was very glad to have my help.
This service was preformed with my fellow Alpha Gam sisters, and it was impactful seeing how much 20 of us could do in an hour in a half to positively affect the community. An Alpha Gam alum was overseeing the event as the owner and president of the organization, 901 Pop. She was very clear on what she needed my help with. I do plan on volunteering there again.

I volunteered at the Study Abroad Fair where I directly serviced University of Memphis students who were interested in studying abroad. This impacts the broader community because it is encouraging individuals to get outside their comfort zone by traveling to a new country which will deepen their cultural awareness. All students were very appreciate of me being there and sharing my experience. I improved my skills of cultural humility by also talking to other people about their experiences in different countries. This service aligned with my belief that all students at the University of Memphis should know that there is an opportunity for them to go explore the world. I do plan on continuing to serve with the study abroad office because I believe it is so important to let students know they have the option to study abroad, and the University of Memphis will give them resources to make it happen!

I was volunteering at an event to encourage our community to invest in their health through a variety of opportunities. I served the population of ages 18-25. Everybody who heard about the work the organization (SAND) was doing was eager and excited to join. I developed the skills of listening to what others has to say. All of this aligned with my personal values and beliefs because I believe everybody should have access to health information. I do plan on volunteering with this organization again.

I played a very small role in the intake of information and distribution of the boxes, but every task is needed to make the operation successful. I mainly served people who were facing food insecurity. Some of these people had a home, and some of them did not. All of them were very thankful I and the team was there.
I developed the skill of communication with those different than myself. This service aligned with my personal value of being kind, respectful and helpful to all people. Serving here also personally influences me in a positive way because I am encouraged at how many people are working together to fight hunger.

My direct service impacted the broader community by educating parents and children at the Campus School about their taste and genetics. I served a population of adults, students and faculty of the Campus School. They were all thrilled to have my organization, SAND, there!
I developed the skill of presenting a topic that I was knowledgable about to multiple different families. I was able to learn what words the children and adults understood the best so that I could most easily communicate with them. I learned that people love interactive events! We made popcorn and had the participations flavor it in multiple different ways to explore your different taste buds. They loved it! I was personally very excited that people were enjoying learning about food because dietetics is my major, and I am very passionate about educating people on nutrition.
