Gave 1.00 hour on 09/26/2019
This past summer, I served as an Americorps VISTA in Omaha, NE, at the Food Bank for the Heartland. Every weekday, I worked for their summer-feeding, food-truck program that fed over 600 children lunch in communities struggling with food insecurity throughout the Omaha metropolitan area. It is difficult for me to articulate the profound impact this experience had on me. These children were vibrant, diverse, and full of hope, and they changed the way I think about my place in this world during every interaction. I left with an unequivocal sense of meaning alongside a new perspective on service.
