This event was offered by SAAC for a local elementary school in Memphis. I and other student-athletes were there to cheer and support the children while they did their virtual walking school bus event. I didn't attend a school district that had a busing system, so it was really cute. The principal was very excited to have us there and offered to have us back in the upcoming year. I would love to do it in person because it would be more effective. When we were able to do it, the students were already in class. It was nice that the school still allowed them to do it even though they're virtual
I really enjoyed working with this organization. Although we were virtual, it was still fun connecting to different people. Also, it was very refreshing to work with little girls. I would probably work with this organization again in the future. I don't have anything negative to say about this organization. They were set-up very well and were able to make a new system pretty quickly. They made it seem as if they were virtual before COVID, and we had very few problems. The volunteers had training before we met with the girls, which was very comforting. Plus, we are able to run as a team in a safe way. I am very happy that I decided to work with this organization this semester.
It was an amazing organization that was doing great work with homeless people in Dallas.
It was a really cool event. However, when I first got there everything as all over the place. There would be times were it was unclear what I was suppose to be doing. It was still pretty cool even with that going on. I was about to meet different business and learn about stuff in the community. I probably would’ve done a different shift so I could’ve seen more
