What skills did you develop or improve through this service experience?
Through this experience, I improved my communication, organization, and leadership skills. I had to clearly give lane assignments, heat numbers, and directions to athletes to keep events running smoothly. This required me to stay focused and organized while managing multiple responsibilities at once. I also became more confident in taking initiative when guiding participants and assisting coaches.

What did you learn about the community or environment you served?
I learned that events like this bring together a diverse group of students, families, and coaches who rely on volunteers to create a structured and positive experience. The environment was fast-paced, but also very supportive and community-oriented. It showed me how important youth sports are in bringing people together and creating opportunities for growth. I also saw how much coordination is needed behind the scenes to make events successful.

Did you work individually or as part of a team, and how did that impact your experience?
I worked as part of a team, which made a big difference in how smoothly everything ran. We relied on each other to manage different parts of the event, from lining up athletes to coordinating races. Teamwork allowed us to quickly solve problems and keep everything organized. It also made the experience more enjoyable because we supported each other throughout the shifts.

How did your service contribute to the mission or goals of the organization?
My role helped ensure that events stayed organized, fair, and efficient for all participants. By lining up athletes, assigning lanes, and assisting coaches, I contributed to a smooth and positive event experience. This directly supported the organization’s goal of running successful and well-structured track meets. My efforts helped reduce confusion and keep the event on schedule.

What unexpected challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
One unexpected challenge was managing large groups of athletes at once while keeping everything on time. It could become overwhelming when multiple heats were happening back-to-back. I overcame this by staying calm, communicating clearly, and focusing on one task at a time. This helped me stay organized and ensured the event continued running smoothly.
