Youth Villages Holiday Heroes Workshop Volunteers

My service with Youth Villages in the Holiday Heroes Workshop was so wonderful! My direct services were aimed at youth and families in low-income households as we hope to have a positive impact on their Christmas celebrations! The people who helped to direct the volunteers were very welcoming and showed ample appreciation for us to be there. Youth Villages hosts this workshop every year and I think it's a beautiful opportunity for us to give to those who are less fortunate than us, tying closely to my values. I worked with other volunteers there who were also from the University Memphis, and it was lovely to get to know them. We helped to "shop" for presents, wrap presents, label presents according to families, and sort labels and bags, all while listening to Christmas music. :) I am volunteering again for Youth Villages because I had such an enjoyable time!

I had a lot of fun helping out with fulfilling the kid's toy wishlists. The people were great and very kind. It was very moving to be a part of something that helps other people so much.
