I served the people of Memphis, and though I didn't see anyone in the community this time, the director expressed his appreciation and relayed the community's appreciation. He spoke about how the public communities, such as the schools and shops, have reached out and expressed how grateful they were. The service aligned with my personal beliefs because we picked up trash, and I was grateful to do my part to fight littering in our city. This also was the weekend before Earth Day, and I enjoyed participating in something for the day! I went with a friend from Emerging Leaders, Edith, and it made my time much more enjoyable. We stayed together, and we were able spot more trash throughout our service. I can't wait to come back and serve again; the leadership is so nice and organized, and it made me feel comfortable serving under them.
