I enjoyed being able to work as a team to move in the freshman.
Move in day is one of the hardest days for everyone involved. It’s hard emotionally and physically for many people. To help people move in is to know that you take the pressure off of people and help ease their mind. I was able to offer a positive and welcoming presence to hopefully give nervous freshman some confidence in this new chapter of their life. Many families were relieved to have the extra help as some families did not have as many members available, nor able bodied members. I learned the importance of a good attitude during this event and how a positive attitude can make any event a better one no matter how hot or physically demanding. I believe through this service event, the values of the university being welcoming and feeling like home were shown through my work. Working as a team in this experience, it made me appreciate those with a good work ethic and how taking the easy way out is very recognizable and frustrating. Noticing this, it has inspired me even more to show up and give one hundred percent when serving.
The event was expertly planned. I loved all of the big buckets, all of the tiger blue. It felt like a celebration. GREAT job. Look forward to working again next year.
I had so much fun helping students and their families move into LLC!!
