I enjoyed listening to the volunteer radio personalities and I love that the station is based in the crosstown concourse. The location is emblematic of the mission of the station so this is a great fit! I will be sure to tune in so that I am more connected to local goings on here in Memphis.
For my community event, I attended the Facebook live with Volunteer Odyssey called Virtual Volunteer Day. I hopped on at 1 p.m. actually watched the segment with Catholic Charities. It was called "Bare Necessities" with Lisa Berry and Mandy Lamey. Catholic Charities is an organization in Memphis that works to provide those in poverty and in need and help them move from poverty to self sufficiency. I really loved this experience because with all the COVID regulations and guidelines, it is awesome that they have come up with ways for volunteers to stay involved even from the comfort of your home. For this project, they were doing a clothes drive to get people to donate underwear for the clients of this organization to have clean underwear. The "bare necessities" is what these clients need and Lisa and Mandy were so sweet and informative. I love how awesome volunteer odyssey is for setting this whole event up today to encourage Memphians to stay involved and never stop giving back to your community.
