Food Mission Volunteer Opportunity

Today I had the opportunity to work alongside other volunteers to feed the homeless. I helped prep plates as I learned more about the volunteers. As I was volunteering, I witnessed a young boy following around his dad and I was emotionally touched at watching how happy he was to play in the dirt and throw rocks and not know anything else. Volunteering was an eye opening experience that makes me want to continue to volunteer and create change.

Today I had another opportunity to feed those in need. I was able to help prepare plates to hand out, socialize with other volunteers in charge, and even learn about the mission's history. While volunteering today, I was able to enjoy and be thankful for having the time to give to make someone else smile. I feel that we all have missions on Earth and mine is to serve. Serving is a big component in leadership and I felt empowered as a leader today by serving others. This is something I hope to continue to do in that it is things like this that make the world go around whether it be ours or someone else's.
