About
Come help us clean up Downtown Fayetteville! Volunteers will help prevent stream pollution by cleaning up cigarette butts and other trash on the sidewalks, curbs and in the landscape beds on Dickson, West Ave, Block Ave and the Downtown Square. You will learn about the impacts of cigarette butts on the environment, and your help will prevent this litter from washing into our downtown storm drains (which flow into Fayetteville's network of streams and eventually to the region's primary source of drinking water!) We will be sending all cigarette butts collected to TerraCycle, a company that recycles plastics into new usable things!
The event kicks off in the Spring Street Parking Deck. Volunteers will receive a downtown cleanup location and be given supplies, including litter grabbers, gloves and bags. We will also have some awesome swag and goodies from our event partners Gen Z Water and Fayetteville Recycling and Trash.
This event is sponsored by the City of Fayetteville, University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Office and Gen Z Water.
