I enjoyed learning more about AgFirst and hearing about the different opportunities available within the organization. It was exciting to learn how AgFirst supports the agricultural industry while providing opportunities for professional growth, career development, and hands-on experience. As an accounting major with a minor in finance, I am interested in exploring opportunities where I can apply my skills, continue learning, and build a strong foundation for my future career. Learning more about AgFirst helped me see how my academic background could align with opportunities in the financial services industry.
What an amazing and inspiring event! It was a pleasure to connect with Tiffany Boozer, candidate for South Carolina State Controller, and Vincent Coe, candidate for State Treasurer, and hear their perspectives on the future of South Carolina. Being the only accounting major in the room made the conversation especially meaningful and allowed me to see firsthand how valuable accounting is beyond the classroom. Accounting is more than numbers—it is a foundation for leadership, transparency, financial decision-making, and creating a stronger future. I’m grateful for the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, build new connections, and learn from individuals who are passionate about serving their communities. Experiences like this continue to remind me that accounting is truly a field for the future, and the connections we build along the way can be just as valuable as the knowledge we gain.
Participating in the Constitution Scavenger Hunt was a fun and engaging way to learn more about the U.S. Constitution. It helped me better understand the rights, responsibilities, and principles that shape our government, and I learned a lot throughout the activity.
Mr. Aaron Oliver gave an amazing presentation about his experiences at Claflin University and the impact the university had on his life. I especially appreciated his message about leaving your footprint and making a lasting impact, as well as his emphasis on building strong relationships with professors, deans, and other mentors who can provide meaningful recommendations and support throughout your career.
Attending the career fair was a great opportunity to connect with different organizations and learn more about potential career opportunities. I spoke with representatives from the Sheriff’s Office and connected with professionals at TD SYNNEX, while also getting the chance to catch up with Kamille Whaley and Joshua Williams. Overall, it was a great experience that allowed me to expand my professional network and reconnect with familiar faces.
Listening to presentations from Unum and Colonial Life was a great experience because I learned more about the companies, their career opportunities, and the benefits they offer to employees. It was especially meaningful to hear from a Claflinite and learn about her experience at Claflin and how her education helped shape her professional journey. Overall, the presentations gave me a better understanding of what to look for in a company and the opportunities available after graduation.
I wrote two thank-you letters to express my appreciation for first responders and recognize their courage, dedication, and service to the community. I acknowledged the sacrifices they make and the important role they play in helping and protecting others during emergencies.
