    Entrepreneurial Law Pro Bono Clinic

During the client meetings our group worked with Ozarka Mudlife, LLC to address some of their business needs moving forward. OML is a seasonal business that operates primarily in the spring, summer, and early fall. Because of the seasonal nature of the business we needed to have deliverables ready by May 1 for the upcoming tour season. Our primary focus was on updating and revising employment agreements, as well as developing an agreement for independent contractors. We also needed to review OML's permits with the National Park Service and Forest Service to ensure that OML was carrying enough insurance and that the operating agreements also included provisions that reflected the necessary insurance requirements.

There are two primary points of interest when reflecting on this clinic; the opportunity to work as a team and having a chance to focus on more transactional law. First, having a chance to work as a team. In law school everything is designed to test the individual, in fact you are often precluded from working as a team. But in life most of work is done within a team. Having the chance to use my legal education within the context of a team has been very rewarding. Second, focusing on transactional law. My professional focus to this point has been on criminal defense, but I have interest in many different aspects of the law. Being able to engage in transactional law through this clinic has given me much needed exposure into other realms of the law.

Overall, I am very grateful to have this opportunity to work in my community, with actual attorneys, and to deliver real legal materials to a client.
