Today was my last day at SOAR, sadly! On this day, we did a "house activity", where each house group was involved with playing games such as musical chairs, and "head, shoulders, knees, and cup". We also celebrated a couple of members from some house groups who have led their house in points! It was great to see each child involved and their excitement for one another.

This week at SOAR, we were in our "clubs" and I was able to help the kids create a figure using materials such as popsicle sticks, paper, and glue. It was a good experience to help the kids understand their own creativity, as well as using their imagination.
Today at SOAR, the children were split into groups depending on what activity they signed up for. Some of the groups being basketball, crotchet/art, engineering, etc. I was paired with the group who were creating monster trucks for a craft. I was glad to help each one of them bring their creations to life!
This week with Group 2, I was able to interact with the students while they were in their own classroom doing crafts. The craft they were given was to create anything they could imagine on a brown paper bag. I sat with a group of 4 children and had them explain what each of them decided to create. It was intriguing to see what each of them came up with!
My second week being at SOAR, I was able to see the children engage with their groups as well as help with problem solving in certain situations. The children and staff are very inclusive with each individual.
September 4th was my first day volunteering at George Elementary. I happen to join on a very exciting day where groups of children were placed in a "house"; a tradition the SOAR program does. Kindly enough, the staff members included me in choosing a house! It was a good experience and I felt very welcomed, even with it being my first day!
