On Friday through Saturday I had the pleasure of volunteering to take care of Skunk while his foster mom was out of town. Skunk and I spent a lot of time together in our short period together but I'd say his favorite part was going on a walk to 7Brew to get him a little treat! He is such a sweet and silly boy! We spent a lot of time on my balcony and he enjoyed sitting next to me and howling at the sirens that went by. I always enjoy getting to take care of the adoptable dogs at Big Paws, they make it so easy and it's such a fun way to volunteer. I'm already scheduled to do more work for them in the future and I am looking forward to it.

I had the pleasure of fostering Tango from BPOZ for 2 weeks. As I am typing this, today is his Gotcha Day, he got adopted! Tango is such a good dog and I'm so happy that he found his forever home. Throughout my time fostering Tango, we went on walks, met new people, gave him a bath, took him to get his vaccine, and gots lots of well deserved love and attention! Fostering him has been such a rewarding experience and I look forward to continuing to volunteer and fostering again with BPOZ.
I had the opportunity to help people check in for the Central Arkansas Heart Ball. This was an event to raise money and recognize individuals for their contributions to the American Heart Association. I enjoyed getting to interact with others who also care about this organization and the importance of heart health. I also want to thank Allison Hogue for allowing me to volunteer and have this wonderful experience.
This weekend I got to foster Duncan. I definitely fell in love with him, he is the sweetest! What I loved about fostering was that everything was provided to me, I didn't have to pay anything. Duncan adjusted very easily and is already very well trained. I really loved getting to do this and I hope to do it again soon!
This was my first time doing this type of volunteer activity. I thought it was interesting to watch how the court/judicial process works first hand.
This was an opportunity to get shelters dogs out of the shelter and walk around and socialize. Fortunately, they did not have a lot of dogs at the shelter so I was not able to walk a dog. So instead, I help fill up water bowls and take pictures and videos for the shelter to use to advertise these dogs for adoption on social media. I always enjoy a volunteer opportunity that includes helping animals in need.
I attended the pack walk on Sunday morning at the Centerton Animal Shelter. I was paired up with one of their shelter dogs, Willow, and I got to take her out of her kennel for the morning. We went on a little walk and spent some time snuggling. The purpose of this was to get her out of the kennel and enjoy herself, as well as getting exercise, work on her leash skills, and just overall enrichment. Any time I get to be around a dog I am happy, especially when I know I am benefitting the dog as well. I hope to do another activity like this again soon!
This was my 3rd year at Arkansas Dance Marathon and I enjoyed it just as much if not more than the previous times. I loved all the events, especially the therapy dogs, and of course getting to meet all the miracle kids and their families. You can see how much these families love and appreciate the hospital so it's always a good feeling to give back when you directly see the impact it makes! I look forward to attending next year!
I made 8 dog toys! This was a super easy and fun event. I love getting to contribute to the local dog shelters as animal welfare and shelter pets is my personal philanthropy. I also enjoyed meeting some AOII girls that I had never met before and wouldn't have done so if not for this event!
This was the perfect volunteering activity for me because it was so fun that it didn't feel like a task or a job. I was able to handle two dogs (Mike and Scooby!!) during an adoption and fundraising event at Pizzeria Ruby in Springdale. I always enjoy working with animals and especially BPOZ, as this was my second time volunteering with them. As someone with two large dogs at home, I really appreciate the work that they do and I love to help out when I can. Can't wait to volunteer with them again!
