From 10-12 I volunteered at the Jean Tyson center
From 9-12 on 3/19 I volunteered at the Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center in room 133. It was a calm time today and we played inside and outside. We spent a majority of our time on the playground riding bikes and playing kitchen (dramatic play). It got really cold all of the sudden so we went back inside and I helped set the classroom up for lunch.
From 10-12 am, I spent the morning of my birthday with classroom 133 at the Jean Tyson Center. Like yesterday, it was a beautiful day on campus and we decided to go on a walk to Old Main. If you saw a bunch of toddlers in a sea of college students on 3/12... just know it was us! We played on the lawn of Old Main for almost 2 hours before heading back to the classroom for lunch.
From 2:30-5:30, I volunteered at the Jean Tyson Child Development Center in the same classroom I used to work in for a year. We spent most of the afternoon on the indoor playground "complex" and then spent the rest of the time outside on the porch because the weather was so perfect!
On March 5th from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM I volunteered at the Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center in classroom 133 with Elexa and Jordan. It was so good to see my old co-workers and the kids. It was such a fun day of me observing all the development that happened over two months of not working there. We played outside riding bikes, and inside with blocks and books. Of course we had to have a dance party too!
Today was my last day at the YRCC. I walked in like usual and signed in. I went outside to help the Kids Crop activity. We got to plant seeds and cook our own food! This was such a fun activity and all of the kids were really engaged. I facilitated the children dig holes in the soil for lettuce and put water and hay on garden beds. After gardening, we prepared our veggies for our quesadilla. I watched the kids cut squash and peppers. Mr. Devon and Alexia did all the cooking portion for us. The food came out delicious and we all got to take home a special cookbook. Overall, I had another amazing afternoon at the YRCC.
I checked in at the YRCC at 3:30 and said hello to the workers and kids. Then, we went outside and monitored the children on the playground. Evan, Joaquin, Silas, were showing off all the different ways to go down the slide. After that, we played tag for a little bit and went inside. The kids had a choice of playing in a soccer tournament with IFC or a craft in the multi-purpose room. I joined the kids who chose craft and sat with Tamara, Montanna, and Rebecca. We talked about the music we like, school, and roblox. After craft, I helped kids log on to the computers in the computer lab. Before we signed out, we helped sanitize the tables and chairs in the gym. Overall, it was another great Wednesday afternoon at the YRCC.
3:30-5:30 at the YRCC, we started by checking in and managing the children outside. I chatted with Evan and Tamera on the playground. We watched them play and run around, until it was time to go inside. IFC came to play soccer with the kids, but I stayed inside and played volleyball with the others. Rebecca, Camilla, Rome, Amaya, Isabelle, and I were in a large circle playing volleyball. We had fun and laughed at our mistakes. We played until it was time to leave, and said goodbye to everyone!
This Wednesday at the YRCC, it was a beautiful day outside so we joined the kids outside after check-in and snack. I looked for 4-Leaf Clovers with Madashare and Zina. I also chatted with Liam about his day and checked in with all the other kids. We went inside and I chose to help out Mr. Devon with the craft in the multi-purpose room. I had a great time!
