Emily @ St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend

Volunteering for the St. Jude Marathon Weekend is an opportunity I try to take advantage of each year! This year I helped with participant check-in. I had an iPad that scanned a QR code each runner was sent. This action allowed those doing run packets to prep the next person's gear and gave me directions to share. It made the whole process much smoother. I throughly enjoyed getting to meet so many St. Jude supporters and look forward to working again next year!

Emily @ Le Bonheur Paws for Service

I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering to fundraise for Le Bonheur Children's Hospital this weekend. Myself and many others took the time to learn the correct way to approach a business, reviewed the information needed to present, and set out to get donations for an event that will raise the hospital thousands! I walked from store to store speaking with managers and business owners. It was so exciting to see the locals of Memphis ready to give back! I cannot wait to see how the event comes together and the amount that is raised!

    Emily @ LeBonheur Pumpkin Run

LeBonheur Children's Hospital put on the Pumpkin Run 5k once again this year and it was such a privilege to serve at this event. I worked as a floater, which allowed to me to help where ever I was needed. I had the opportunity to check people in, put together goody bags, and assist with take down. It was truly a joy to greet the runs, work alongside so many other volunteers, and support a local hospital in their care of the children in our community. I cannot wait for next year!

    Emily @ Crosspointe Baptist Church

What an amazing weekend! I was given the opportunity to serve as a leader for DNOW at Crosspointe Baptist Church. Just a few of the highlights include leading a small group of student in discussions about what they may have learned, helping the high school girls group with a lip sync routine, and forming relationships with some really awesome students. Volunteering for this event was well worth the loss of sleep and I can not wait to serve alongside the amazing leaders who made it all happen again.

I volunteered as an observer for the Emerging Leaders and Social Change Scholars interview day on Wednesday, February 24. My role was to evaluate four different candidates on how they did in each activity and to determine whether or not each individual met the expectations set in place. I enjoyed watching the students participate and warm up to one another as the session went on. I truly love getting to meet the new students and plan to volunteer for this event again.

    Emily @ Desoto Lodge 299 F & AM

I was given the opportunity to serve with Mr.Martz for five hours each day once again this weekend. Most of my time was spent staining the majority of the wood on the exterior of the house. It was hard work, but turned out to be extremely rewarding and fulfilling. The house is finally coming together and to be a part of the last steps of this process has truly been a pleasure. I hope to continue serving this organization and the people who make it up more in the future.

Emily @ Bread of Life Food Pantry

It was a joy to serve those in my community. I worked with others to bag canned goods and a few other items, this one only one part of what each family received when arriving. Once we had enough supplies the cars started rolling in. We would take our assigned product out to their car. I loved getting to greet those in need and volunteer along side others.

This weekend I spent five hours of my Saturday and Sunday volunteering with a Free and Accepted Mason, Elbert Martz. He was in need of some help with fixing up a home for a member of his community. I was given the task of replacing all of the screens on the porch, which was easy and fun once I got the hang of it. Once this was accomplished that I began staining the deck. I enjoyed getting to acquire some new skills and serve those who are working so hard to give to others.
