Volunteered at the soup kitchen by preparing food, handing out food, and cleaning the kitchen after wards.
Volunteered at the coin drive table for Feeding America, hosted by Lambda Chi Alpha. Set up the area, collected money, encouraged people the donate, and cleaned the area all throughout the week.
I volunteered at Christ Methodist Church for the 2019 Memphis Joy Prom. This was an event for people with special needs to experience a prom night. I was there to help out in any way possible. I helped with walking the special needs participants down a red carpet into the entrance of the prom. I also helped with some initial set up and registration set up for the special needs participants. This was an amazing experience in which I was able to provide a lot help, while it was a complete enjoyment for me. I will be volunteering for this event again next year!
I volunteered for Vitalant with my fraternity at the University of Memphis. I volunteered from 9-12 on March 25th and 26th. i was there to help the nurses with anything they needed. I helped blood donors with refreshments before and after donating blood. I also worked at the table to recruit donors to the blood drive. I also helped them load and unload the tables and refreshments to and from the donation site.
I volunteered for the "Hustle for the House" run, which benefited the FedEx Family house. I was at a post during the race to cheer on runners, provide directions, and also direct traffic. It was a great opportunity to help out an organization that helps so many families every single day. It was fun getting to see all the participants in the race and it was cool because it was all over the city of Memphis. It was very cold and early that morning but it was a great experience and well worth it.
I volunteered for St. Jude at Minglewood Hall because they were hosting a big banquet and silent auction to raise money. I arranged the room and set up the tables and the items for the silent auction. I also helped arrange the main room and dinning area, and set up all the tables and chairs, and set the tables with silverware and glasses. There was a lot to do and it took a long while but it was great to be able to help benefit the kids and St. Jude itself for all that it does.
This was an amazing opportunity to not only help out the staff at Memphis Animal Services, but also to help the dogs that were there. I took the dogs outside to do their business, play, and I also wrote information cards for the dogs so that the staff could make cards to go on their kennels. It was a great time being with the dogs and the other volunteers but it was sad to see how many animals that were there. It was full day of interacting with the animals and recording things down for their adoption cards.
I worked with Lifeblood at St. Ann's Catholic Church for their monthly blood drive. I was there with a member of the Lifeblood council and we worked together during the event. I help to greet and sign donors in. I also helped to provide and stock donors with refreshments and handed out shirts to those who donated. I helped to set up and take down any equipment and signs that they needed me to. It was great experience and I love volunteering with them.
