Working with a family in the CASA program - the parents are Spanish speakers and I am excited to continue my support and provide the family with resources to help achieve a permanency plan for the children.

I volunteered at Har-Ber school on Friday for 2 hours where I read with kids of Spanish-speaking and Marshallese heritage. It was interesting to work with kids of different ages, as I was expecting the group to be made up of younger kids. I am looking forward to going back soon!
Worked with Tanya Evans at the Springdale Public Library with James and Bryce
Have been training (30 hours of training and since become an active volunteer) in the CASA (court appointed special advocate) of NWA program - aimed to help advocate in court for children placed into foster care. During training, a significant portion was spent developing cultural competency and learning about the importance of a home that matches the cultural background of a child - many of the children in foster care are African American, Latino, or Marshallese.
I really enjoyed getting to know the kids!
Before the race this past weekend, I helped prepare packets for runners as well as organize t-shirts and make signs to guide runners through the race.
