Although I was not feeling well, I still made the decision to attend the Orange Mound clean-up on Saturday because I understood the importance of showing up and contributing to my community. Being present despite not feeling my best reinforced my sense of responsibility and commitment to service.
During the event, we worked together to remove trash and improve the appearance of the neighborhood. This effort not only helped create a cleaner environment, but also contributed to a greater sense of pride and care within the community. It reminded me that even small actions, like picking up litter, can have a meaningful impact on the people who live there.
In addition to the physical work, the experience gave me the opportunity to connect with other students who are involved in campus life. Through conversations while we worked, I was able to learn more about their experiences, organizations, and motivations for serving. These interactions made the service more meaningful and showed me how community involvement can also strengthen connections between students.
Overall, this experience highlighted the importance of dedication, even in challenging circumstances, and showed me that service is not only about the work being done but also about the relationships built along the way. It encouraged me to stay engaged in both community service and campus involvement moving forward.
