I showed up and was eager to help out with the art festival and do anything I could to help the organizers and all the talented artists out there. It was a great experience to see all that amazing and intricate art and get to know new people. I helped bring refreshments to the artists and help them out when they needed a break, and do the bigger job of helping to neaten the setup and aid with the takedown of the festival after it was over with. In between, I helped with small jobs such as closing up trash bags and taking them to the dumpster, cleaning tables, and folding up and gathering chairs towards the end. I enjoyed being able to volunteer my time to do good for the community by supporting art and getting to experience the festival.
I worked as a volunteer at the Art in The Loop event on the 11th of April. My main job there was to give out snacks and water bottles to the artists at the event as well as to check to see if they needed a break from their venue. I also on the side for fun helped the organizers clean up trash and get ready for the evening segment of the event before I left. I met many people in the art culture in Memphis that were very kind to the team and I. I always made sure that the artists were okay and made sure they stayed positive as I want to see them next year. I as well checked on the police officers and national guards if they wanted anything as they are serving our community and our country.
I enjoyed helping the different artists by providing them with water and snacks!
