It was great - there were a lot of volunteers and tools. We planted all the trees in the designated spots and marked them to prevent damage.

Stephanie Burchfield was such a wonderful person to work with! She was very knowledgeable about the area we were planting in and gave very clear directions on how to plant the trees. The family that owned the area of land was also so helpful, nice, and appreciative, which warmed my heart. I met other people within the NWA community who came to volunteer, which made me feel more connected to Arkansas as a whole. I felt like I was really making a contribution to the environment along with everyone else because we were able to plant over 400 trees in just a matter of two hours, which will protect the watershed for years to come. Overall, the experience was uplifting and such a great way to give back to the community! I'm so happy I had the opportunity to volunteer and I would encourage others to volunteer with the Illinois River Watershed Partnership. They have quarterly planting events every year that are super easy to attend (provided you have transportation) and do not take very long.
