Girls on the Run Memphis Fall '24 5k Celebration

This service event was very fun and rewarding. This experience influenced my career and educational goals because I want to work with children and being able to see all of the girls set a goal of getting through the 5k was very inspiring. Throughout this experience I got to learn more about the community around me and see just how supportive everyone is of one another. Everyone was cheering for each person no matter the age and if they were running or walking. I got to work as a team with Girls on the Run staff and other volunteers to hand out water and support the runners. I would enjoy volunteering for this organization again because it has a really good message for young girls, to work hard and achieve their goals while also having fun. This service does align with my personal values and beliefs because I think it is great to see so many young girls and their mentors coming together to achieve their goals. This organization in of itself is so great, as they continue to inspire so many girls to never give up.

It was such a great experience cheering on these wonderful girls and women. In times like these it’s much needed.
