Service on Saturday - April 20th

It was great

I loved this service on Saturday !

My service directly benefited my community's environmental wellness. Today I raked and bagged 6 bags of leaves. I also picked up lots of sticks! Everyone there was extremely nice, they were all very glad that I came out to help today . The park that I served today was Stone Ridge Park in Bartlett. My service directly helped the environment by picking up the heavy layers of leaves, which can provide new growth in the spring. We also put the leaves in bags where the leaves can be composted to make rich soil (mulch). I learned that taking care of our environment is very important and it often gets overlooked. Cleaning up those leaves and sticks felt very rewarding, the parked looked so much cleaner and nice. During my service I worked with a lot of other people, it was nice to have others to help in a big park. It helped things go a little faster. this service made me see that taking care of our environment is very important. I tend to overlook the needs of our environment, especially my backyard!
