The volunteers were split into a waste clean-up team and a gardening team. I joined the latter, and spent most of my shift cutting down trees in Memphis Rox's community garden to make room for expansion. I found the volunteering to be an engaging at-your-own-pace experience; the energetic could lop down brush and tree limbs, while those resting could drag the wood to a pile.
Overall my experience was great from picking up the trash around the area and also clearing out trees in the garden. The people I worked with were extremely friendly and made time fly by.
