About
People LOVE their pets! And they love them for a lot of personal reasons. On a clinical level, pets play an important role in combating isolation for seniors who live alone. But the reality is caring for pets hits hard for folks on tight budgets. To help, MIFA has a pet food distribution program for the companion animals of Meals on Wheels clients.
Volunteers will deliver cat and dog food on the second Friday or Saturday of the month (for 2026: July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14, Dec 12; for 2027: Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 13, April 10, May 9, June 12). These deliveries also bring additional, meaningful social connections for clients.

Volunteers are responsible for picking up and following an assigned delivery route, and providing dependable, courteous service to clients in the community.
