Volunteer Opportunity: ACT Prep Tutor
Memphis Inner City Rugby (MICR) supports our student-athletes as they prepare for college and career opportunities. We are seeking volunteers to help high school students prepare for the ACT through small-group tutoring and test preparation sessions.
Students are looking for support in building confidence, strengthening core academic skills, and developing effective test-taking strategies. Volunteers may work with a small group of students to review ACT content, practice sample questions, discuss study techniques, and help students prepare for upcoming test dates.
Potential areas of focus include:
- ACT math, reading, science, and/or English content review
- Remedial math or English practice
- Test-taking strategies and time management
- Practice questions and guided review
- Study planning and goal setting
- Building confidence and reducing test anxiety
This role can be flexible based on your availability and expertise. Whether you are comfortable teaching a specific subject area or providing general ACT preparation support, your guidance can make a meaningful difference for students pursuing college opportunities.
Tutoring session(s) would take place at the MICR Office, or at a public library in one of our students' neighborhoods. MICR staff will provide additional support with planning and facilitation.
Time Commitment
- Flexible scheduling based on volunteer and student availability
- Small-group sessions with high school students
- Brief screening and introductory meeting with MICR staff prior to volunteering
