Volunteer Opportunity: Career Readiness Mentor
Memphis Inner City Rugby (MICR) is seeking volunteers to serve as career readiness mentors for young adults ages 18–26 who are preparing to enter the workforce and navigate the job application process.
We are looking for supportive, encouraging mentors who can meet weekly with a young adult over a three-month period to help build confidence and strengthen professional skills. No specific industry or career-field expertise is required — we are simply seeking individuals who are comfortable offering guidance, encouragement, and practical job-search support.
Mentors may assist with:
- Building or improving resumes
- Practicing interview skills and professional communication
- Updating or creating LinkedIn profiles
- Writing cover letters
- Navigating online job application platforms and tools
- Discussing workplace expectations and professionalism
- Providing accountability and encouragement throughout the job search process
Time Commitment
- Approximately 30-minute meetings once per week for 3 months
- Meetings may be virtual or in person depending on availability and preference
- Brief onboarding conversation with MICR staff prior to being matched
Ideal Volunteers
- Professionals from any field
- College graduates or working professionals
- Individuals comfortable discussing resumes, interviews, and job searching
- Supportive mentors who enjoy helping young adults build confidence and prepare for next steps
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through consistent encouragement and practical guidance during an important transition period in a young person’s life. Sometimes a little support and accountability can make a major difference.
