About
Memphis Inner City Rugby (MICR) supports our alumni as they pursue post-secondary education and career opportunities, including military service. Several of our alumni are interested in taking the ASVAB and are looking for support as they begin preparing for the exam.
We are seeking a volunteer who can work with one or more alumni to help them prepare for the ASVAB. This may include:
- Explaining the structure and format of the ASVAB
- Reviewing key subject areas such as math, reading, and general science
- Guided review of practice questions
- Helping students build a realistic study plan
- Offering encouragement and accountability as students prepare
This role can be a one-time meeting or more hands-on, depending on your availability. Volunteers may choose to meet once to help students get started or provide ongoing tutoring sessions over several weeks.
Time Commitment
- Flexible — from a single planning session to recurring tutoring meetings
- Sessions may be one-on-one or small group
- One brief intro call with a MICR staff member beforehand
Ideal Volunteers
- Veterans or active-duty service members
- Individuals who have taken the ASVAB
- ROTC participants
- Tutors or educators comfortable with basic math and reading concepts
- Anyone familiar with ASVAB content or preparation
This is a flexible opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping motivated students prepare for military career pathways and build confidence ahead of an important exam.
We ask that you meet with an MICR staff member prior to meeting with the student(s) to ensure good fit.
