About
MIFA has openings for Phone Buddy callers. This opportunity involves calling up to 3 seniors weekly for brief check-ins. Many home-delivered meal clients live alone and do not have family or friends who support them. For some clients, the volunteer or MIFA staff driver who delivers their meal will be the only person they see that day. MIFA's MIPhone Buddy program provides additional social support.
Volunteers with the MIPhone Buddy program provide friendly weekly phone calls to seniors who receive Meals on Wheels and are homebound or isolated.
Volunteers must complete the following forms:
- MIPhone Buddy Volunteer Profile (This is so we can match you with your client. All new and returning volunteers must complete this.)
- MIFA volunteer application (if you are a new MIFA volunteer)
This MIPhone Buddy Program training slideshow provides need-to-know details. After you have reviewed it, take this quiz to test your understanding.
All new volunteers are asked to review the MIPhone Buddy volunteer handbook to gain an understanding of the responsibilities and benefits of serving as a MIPhone Buddy. This brief video also gives you an idea of what to expect when you volunteer.
Once your application has been processed, a member of our engagement team will be in touch and assign your call list.
