Career and Resource Readiness (CARR) Expo

Career and Resource Readiness (CARR) Expo is a day of hiring, resource discovery, and networking for an employer, non-profit organization, students preparing to graduate or learn more about supporting their military in their community.  This CARR Expo is held on Dec 7, 2019.  Volunteers report at 9:00am at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, 6800 SW Minuteman Blvd, Bentonville, AR 72712.  Setup of Expo will include a Hospitality Area, Family Fun Area, Career and Resource Area, and Break Area.  Cleanup begins at 4:00pm thru 4:30pm.

 Volunteers Needed:

• Hospitality Area (4-5 volunteers) (see attached Description)

• CARR EXPO Runner/Helper (4-5 volunteers) (see attached)

• Registration Table (2-3 volunteers) (see Attached)

• Photographer (1 volunteer)  Volunteer is provided  a digital camera to take still and short videos for Camp Alliance of CARR Expo

Dress is Business Casual.  Jeans are accepted with no tears or holes.  Shirts will be tucked in and a belt worn.  Please wear closed toed shoes as lifting and carrying is required.

• VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION:  REGISTRATION TABLE HELPER

This position provides assistance to vendors during vendor setup with signing in.   During the event, will direct service members how to sign in as well as provide a home base for lost and found items.  First stop for community members coming in and act as an information table. Professionalism and excellence in customer service are the most important needs for this volunteer position.

REQUIREMENTS:

Volunteers assist with setup and preparation of CARR Expo prior to arrival of Vendors.  Will greet vendors assign a CA Helper to assist with items from the parking lot to their event table.  Provide information to key personnel at Camp Alliance to handle items that come up in  pre event setup and  CARR Expo completion. 

This position may has minimal physical requirements.  Does require sitting or standing and working with sign in sheets and sign in rosters.

TASKS

• Greet and provide information regarding setup and assigning a CA Helper.

• Provide assistance with patrons' special needs, such as helping those with wheelchairs.

• Knowledge of cleaning items, restrooms, and break areas to direct attendees to appropriate areas.

   

• VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION:  HOSPITALITY AREA SERVER

This is a position in our Hospitality Area of our Career and Resource Readiness (CARR) Expo.  This is an area that provides a light lunch and snacks/beverages to our serving military members and family prior to the beginning of the CARR Expo.  It is also used as a break area for the vendors to receive snacks and beverages throughout the CARR Expo.

REQUIREMENTS:

Volunteers in this area will arrive in time to setup the Hospitality Area prior to the vendor’s arrival to ensure area is setup, stocked, and ready to serve.

This position may require lifting over 20 pounds as well as bending and stretching.

TASKS

• Greet and provide service to individuals needing assistance with their food and beverage.

• Provide assistance with patrons' special needs, such as helping those with wheelchairs.

• Cook and serve foods.

• Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.

• Serve food or beverages.

• Clean tableware.

• Collect dirty dishes or other tableware.

• Move equipment, supplies or food to required locations.

• Prepare hot or cold beverages.

• Arrange food for serving.

• Arrange tables or dining areas.

   

• VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION:  EXPO HELPER

This position provides all services to assist vendors prior, during, and post Career and Resource Readiness (CARR) Expo setup, operation and tear down.  These volunteers are the first contact an employer, agency, and community will have with attendees at the event.  Professionalism and excellence in customer service are the most important needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Volunteers assist with setup and preparation of CARR Expo prior to arrival of Vendors.  Will greet vendors and assist with items from the parking lot to their event table.  Volunteers will provide teardown of tables, storage of tables and chairs, and activities needed for cleanup of CARR Expo completion.

This position may require lifting over 20 pounds as well as bending and stretching.

TASKS

• Greet and provide assistance with items vendor has brought for their table.

• Provide assistance with patrons' special needs, such as helping those with wheelchairs.

• Clean areas, facilities, or equipment (sweeping, garbage removal, etc…).

• Move vendor equipment and supplies to required locations.

• Arrange tables, chairs, waste baskets, and table cloths prior to the event.

• Tear down of tables, chairs, waste receptacles and clean area to include sweeping, delivering garbage to dumpster, and replacing garbage liners.
