Ella Mcintosh

At Bags of Hope I was able to distribute grocery bags to residents of a small town in Lauderdale County, many of whom might not have been able to afford them otherwise. I improved on the skill of working under pressure since things are going pretty quick, but it was so heartwarming to see their gratitude. I was not aware there were that many people struggling so close to me and it made me sad to see but happy to help. Since I was doing this with my friends church, we were directly serving from the church which greatly aligns with their organizations values and also mine. This experience resonates with my Christian values, as I was able to serve and help others, which is what Christians are called to do. I worked alongside my roommate, which made the experience smoother and more enjoyable and collaborating together made the task more fun and fulfilling. I plan to to volunteer at Bags of Hope again, as it’s a rewarding feeling to assist those in need and serve a community that is close to my heart.
