Today my mentee and I worked on his lego set together and then had a lovely walk to his class! We were having fun pointing out our favorite kind of cars that we saw on the road and talking about our dream cars. Building legos together this semester has been such a fun bonding time and I've absolutely loved getting to share my mentee's favorite hobbies!
Today, my mentee and I shared our final time together for the year. We did her favorite activity and went to 7Brew while belting out Beyonce in the car! We had a blast. We drove around campus for one last time and talked about our plans for summer and the next school year. We decided that next fall we're going to spend some time in the music building and work on her singing - she's really talented and has so much fun singing! Overall, this semester with her has been amazing and I cant wait to keep building our friendship.
Today my mentee and I ate lunch with his friend and his mentor at Fullbright! We had a great time chatting, and I loved getting to see him interacting with friends. After lunch, we got his lego and light set to talk about how he is going to insert the lights into the lego set he already built! Then, I walked him to his classroom building, and we ended our time for the day!!
Today with my mentee was such a blast!! We went to 7Brew, had a car jam sesh to Beyonce, went to the University Theater to see the set for the spring play (her. favorite activity!), and then we went to the union to drop her off for class. It's such a blast discovering new things she loves to do and introducing her to the world of theatre!!
Today my mentee and I went to walmart to pick out a new lego set for him to do! He had such a fun time looking at all the options, and it was an awesome bonding experience for us! He ultimately landed on his choice, and then we had some fun seeing how much cash he had to "bring his total down" for his card!
Today, my mentee and I continued work on his power point movie slides! He enjoys working on these together because we can collaborate and come up with ideas to improve his slides together. It's been so much fun watching his ideas come to life and seeing him enjoy something that gives him an outlet for creativity, fun, and connection with someone else.
My mentee and I had a great time working on his movie slides today, and finding lots of new pictures to use in them. We even discovered that one of my friends appeared in the movie he was looking at, and we spent a lot of time watching his clips from the movie!
Today my mentee and I worked on a new power point movie presentation. He had lots of great ideas for movie combinations, pictures, and lines. We worked on that for a while and then we practiced the lines together! I love learning more about how he creates these worlds and how creative he is!
Today my mentee and I had a great time working on a lego set together! He brought it down to meet me, and knew that was his chosen activity for our time together. We set up the pieces, and I handed him the correct pieces he would need to use for each step. We talked about our plans for the week/weekend while we built it, and he said after our time was up that he would finish his lego and send me a picture of the completed set!
I had a great time today with my mentee! We went to 7Brew to get a fun Friday treat, then to get her some lunch. She did a fabulous job ordering for herself, and we had a great time talking in the car together. It was the perfect weather outside and we got to roll our windows down and unwind from the week together!
