Every Fall semester, my fraternity holds a philanthropy called Watermelon Bust. This event normally takes place on a Friday or Saturday, so the week leading up to the event, we will hold a coin drive in the UC. Basically, the fraternity reserves a table where we have a jar for each sorority to compete in how much money they donate. I believe we raised around $3,500 for Feeding America this last fall. This is a great time for brothers to bond, while also raising money for such a great charity.
Through this week, my fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, held a coin drive for our philanthropy event, Lambdapalooza. The money raised for this event goes towards the American Heart Association.
Through this experience, I was able to raise canned food for the hungry. While doing so, I was able to meet a lot of new people. I would defiantly like to do something like this again.
Through this semester, I have gone back to my church in Collierville, CFBC, every Sunday morning and volunteered in the nursery. I worked with 4 year old children, and had a blast leading them through Gods word.
From February 1st to present, I have assisted Melissa with yard work as she could not physically herself. It was a great experience for me to learn new skills and help someone in need.
