Along with Tigers Animal Welfare Services, an organization me and my friend founded on the University of Memphis campus, we volunteered at the Doggy Field Trip event. I, along with three other people, took Monet for a trip down the River Walk in Downtown Memphis. It was a very fun experience, especially since I haven't volunteered at an animal shelter in a long time. I am definitely going to go back and volunteer very soon.

I served the Mid-South community at the Botanic Gardens as a volunteer with Students of the Japanese Program. Most of us are very well versed in the Japanese culture, and many of the community, even Japanese people, took it positively. I volunteer at the event every year, and it is always fun! I managed the toys and storytelling table and I interacted with kids and their parents on how to play with these toys and even spoke to people from Japan! It was very nice seeing the faces of the children I worked with. Hopefully I was able to spread the Japanese culture to those who did not know much about it.

Along with the rest of the BCM leadership, I helped prepare a meal for students, faculty, and guests from the University of Memphis. I also spoke at the event about getting them involved on campus. Using my people skills and personality, I was able to meet people from all over. I was received very well, which is good since I am one of the leaders in the Outreach ministry. It was an interesting experience where I talked to people from all around the country and even served international students as well as those with special needs. As a Christian, charity aligns with my beliefs and working with other people like me is such a great experience!

Along with some fellow Weeks of Welcome leaders and volunteers, we worked hard to make new students feel welcome in the LLC. We were received with gratitude for the help from both families and students alike. Me and my friends had to use a lot of communication skills and honestly it helped me realize how important teamwork and cooperation is. Very tiring but it was great serving the campus in the best way I can!

I volunteered at the Tour of Asia event, one of the biggest events of the spring semester. It is the big finale for AAA, and as the name implies, it shows many different dances and had many different cultures exhibited. I helped with set up, clean up, and helped monitor the event. The event improved from last year, and I am glad I helped out!
I volunteered at Gimbap night, a night where we made a Korean dish and celebrated our Asian American community. I helped at set up and tear down. I also helped some people make Gimbap. It was really fun and I really enjoyed it!
I helped with landscaping and gardening in the Bartlett area for spring break. It was a fun and relieving experience, as I had not done something like this in a while. This is a small part of a larger goal of helping grow a garden in the area.
Doing volunteer work in Soulsville was really amazing. I really like what Memphis City Beautiful stands for and enjoyed my time with the organization. Me and a group from the university picked up trash in the area in honor of Martin Luther King Jr, who really loved the place. Reflecting on the impact of MLK and the civil rights movement while helping my community was a very eye-opening experience.
