Today (April 30th), compared to my other experiences, today was loaded with a lot of new opportunities. To start my day, I arrived at humane society at 8:00 and was greeted by Larry the cat. After I was greeted by Larry the cat, I headed to the vet clinic to do small tasks. My first task of the day was to socialize a new puppy, Gumpy (picture is provided). In socializing Gumpy I played with him, made him familiar with human contacts and also watched over him so he would not get in any trouble. Shortly after, I went with one the the Humane Society Staff to complete another task in the clinic. I was instructed and taught how to make "Surgery Packs" (Picture is provided). Though I was very nervous and new to making the surgery packs, the humane society staff was very helpful and patient thought the process. I made Small drape packages, large drape packages, and S/N packs. The purpose of the packs is when prepping for operation, there is sterile ad reliable tools for the vet to use and not waste any time. I made a total of 9 packs, though, by myself I was able to complete 9. After I finished the surgery packs, there wasn't much else to do in the clinic, and around the time I finished, the daily rounds of collecting and refilling dishes were to be done. After my time in the clinic I spent a significant amount of time washing a cart of cat litter boxes, cat dishes, and utensils along with a whole trashcan of dog bowls and toys. As I was washing all of the listed items occasionally more would come (Which I don't mind) so the dishes did take longer than expected, but I was able to complete the task and I felt like I accomplished a lot. Finally, after finishing the dishes I went to the cat house to do some light cleaning (because it was already clean before I came) and I helped where I was needed. I also familiarized myself with some other cats, mouse house, Monroe, and William were still there, but I did meet Larry and a mommy cat. Pictures are provided.

Today (April 16) I did arrive later, I volunteered from 1:59-4:15. It was a calm day and the cat house was consisted of older cats (which is not a problem at all!). Some people came in to see the cats available, though since it was slow in the cat house I went to the front desk to see if there were any tasks to be done. There wasn't much to do or anything that I could do, but I did reliable some labels on folders and transferred the paperwork to the new folders. While it was a small task, I hope in the future that I can help out more where in can. My evidence this week is of an adorable cat that I met, his name is meatloaf and he is the sweetest!!!
Today (February 26th) most of my day was filled with washing cat litter boxes, cat dishes, and a couple of dishes and washing from the dog house. Once I finished with washing dishes and litter boxes, I went back to the cat house to socialize and familiarize myself with other residents. Today though, I did have a little change today that I found to be admirable. Today, I was asked to volunteer at the clinic, which I of course accepted ! In my time in the clinic I was able to see hands on the staff do tasks and assessments that vets would have to do. For example, bloodwork, tests, evaluations, etc. After this process happened I and another volunteer, Isabella cleaned one of the keeping rooms. I cleaned two large cages with bleach, and also I swept. Once both Isabella and I finished cleaning, we went back into the evaluation room to help Rose to put the 5 cats back into their cages. This weeks evidence is of me scratching mouse house while she is on her perch!
Today was like all the other days, I came in the morning from 8:59-11:15, left and came back from 1:57-4:01. In the morning I cleaned cages and washed the cat bins. After I returned from washing dishes, I swept the floor and helped around when needed. There were a lot of dishes to be washed for the dogs and they were coming from every direction! I finished as many as I could before I had to leave. There also was a tour that came around to peek at what I was doing while I was washing dishes. From 1:57-4:01 it started to slow down, it wasn't very busy today in the cat house. I was able to pet many cute cats, socialize, and I met a new team member, Tess! Today was a good and productive day. My evidence for today is of stripes in his mid-day snooze!
Today (December 21st) was a very busy day. Today was the first day we were open to the public this week. So people from Saturday that had adoption papers were coming in to make the final decision. Today was especially busy because Christmas is around the corner. I volunteered from 9-11 and 2-5. The morning was the same as normal, humane society opens to he public at 10 o'clock, so before 10 oclock getting the cat house ready for the public was top priority. I helped thestaff member at the time wash litter boxes. Once I finished I helped sweep, clean the cat posts in the cat house, and arrange the rooms. After a little after 10 I helped visitors in the cat house look at cats and inform them to the best of my ability. From my 2-5 two cats were adopted: Maria and Joey hands, both went to very good homes and I will miss them dearly. Compared to my other reflections I did stay until closing time, and that was because I wanted to help as much as I could! here is a cute picture of Sapphire!
Today (December 20th) was a Monday and humane society was closed to the public. My day looks the same as the two previous reflections since I sign up for the morning volunteer times (what was available at the time) So I was cat litter boxes, refill them, clean cat cages/rooms, sweep, and socialize with the cats. Today I was able to familiarize myself more with the cats names and personalities. Cats are miniature fur babies of humans, they have different personalities. Some like to be pet all the time, some. are picky, some have a lot of energy, others a low and Melo. The cat house is a fun place to hang out at and I enjoy my time spent there. My evidence for this reflection is one of humane societies residents, Marlee. She is 4 years old and has kidney disease, though with her kidney disease, she is still a sweetie that hangs out on her special heating pad. My evidence this reflection is of Marlee enjoying some refreshing water from the sink! :)
Today, (December 19th) was basically like my last reflection, though the only difference was I only worked from 9-11 and we were closed to the public. Each morning all of the cages in the cat house are cleaned (wiped down, litter boxes changed/filled, and towels/blankets are changed) After all the litter boxes were changed, I went to wash them and I filled the clean litter bins with kitty litter to use the following day. The day did seem a little shorter, but I met a cute cat, her name is Diamond Paw (and of course I know other cats but I want to write about Diamond Paw in this reflection) She is about 3 months old, loves cuddles, pets, and to socialize and play with other cats! She has her wild moments and I hope she gets adopted soon! My evidence of this reflection is me holding her while volunteering! :)
First day back at humane society (December 18th) was on a very busy Saturday. I arrived at humane society at 9 o'clock. Opening to the public started at 10 oclock, so in the mornings before opening up publicly, we go through each individual cat's cage/room and clean them out. The cleaning consists of emptying litter boxes, washing litter boxes, combing out cat stands of cat fur, wiping down cages, sweeping, washing dishes, filling food bins, etc. On this day I spent most of my day washing cat's litter boxes (around 35) and I washed a trashcans worth of dog dishes/toys. I volunteered from the hours of 8:55-11:33, then I left and came back from 2-4 (Humane society has volunteering hours you can sign up for, the times are 9-11 and 2-4). From 2-4 I socialized with cats adn helped some families tut to the best of my ability if they had questions.
Sunday was great overall. One of the best cats in the cat house has gotten sufficiently better in health and just happiness overall (Georgie). I saw that we took mewkayla out of the pantry which made me happy, and now ash is in there. Benny one of the loudest yet funniest cats was gone, which was a sad yet happy thing. There weren't many dishes to do when I checked in the back, but that was ok. overall sunday wasn't busy at all and I quite enjoyed having the cats out. The only cat that went home that day was coe coe. Ive listed some pictures of the cats I took videos and pictures of. I also went an email earlier in the week, I believe sunday with their names listed under every picture
Today was a pretty chill day. I didnt go to the humane society last week due to the PAW GALA that took place around shelby farms (which was amazing). I found that Georgie was doing so much better, along with me noticing that hannah dropped a load of weight and meowkayla coming out of the pantry being swapped out with ash. Funny thing I learn today is that fresca has a little chonk in her. No new adoptions today, but a lot of interest. Not much to report for today since it wasn't a long day for me personally.
