Being able to administer vaccines over the past months was such an amazing experience. I found it rewarding be able to donate my time and knowledge in order to help the community get back to "normal". COVID-19 has impacted everyone in so many ways and I am happy there are steps being taken to fix this problem.
So much fun! Glad there are still ways to serve during COVID-19 times
We volunteered this morning at FedEx Family House! We arrived at 7 am and made breakfast for the families to hopefully provide a nutritious breakfast and a good start to their days. These families should have nothing to worry about but their child's health. I had a great time and hope to be back soon to do this again!
Volunteering at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer was such a great time! We were setting up for the run they were hosting as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. We unloaded cases of waters, bananas, and granola bars for the runners and organized them in a way that it would just be a grab and go. We also unloaded and set up their shop which sold breast cancer awareness merchandise. We also set up signs at the finish line that listed the names of the cancer survivors and patients that the teams were running for. I would love to do this again.
Tinker Tech was created to be able to give kids in under resourced communities exposure to STEM, while also promoting STEM education. Helping this amazing organization grow and carry out its' mission has been such a great experience! Creating and helping manage Tinker Tech social media pages' such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter gets the small organization's name out to people of our community. It is important to remember that social media can be one of the best (and cheapest) marketing tools, any potential donor, volunteer, schools in need, parents, etc. can be reached through it! I am certainly going to do this again and hopefully for a long time!
I had a great time serving at Memphis Animal Services! We spent the day taking the dogs out of their cages and giving them time to run around and play. There is always overcrowding which makes it hard for every dog to get time out of their cages. We let them run in a personal playpen to give them the happiest day ever! Absolutely would do this again!
We had the best time performing service at Aster College Prep. We spray painted letters to spread positive thinking to the children, built desks, disinfected surfaces, organized, and many other things. This beautiful school is helping the community in so many ways, and can use as much help as they can get! 10/10 would recommend volunteering here!
Volunteering for the MidSouth Animal Rescue League is always enjoyable. We went door to door this weekend asking for any extra blankets, towels, food, toys, etc. for the animals that are in need. Most people were very happy to be helping the cause and it helps the Rescue League continue to do great things for homeless animals.
