I enjoyed this experience. I got to hand out lunches and meet lots of new people!
I had fun helping with this easter egg hunt! We got to put all the eggs out for the kiddos then help clean up afterwards. It was great seeing the kids have so much fun, and I enjoyed getting to talk to other U of M students and Social Change Scholars!
I had a great experience at this orientation and learned a lot! I can’t wait to start volunteering at MAS. So excited to get started and to help make a positive impact for all the kitties!
This was a really fun experience! I enjoyed celebrating a culture that is different from my own. I loved interacting with and getting to know the other volunteers. I was a volunteer for the morning shift, so I helped decorate and set up for the parade. I would love to continue volunteering with this group next year!
This was my first time helping out with Zoo Boo, and I had such a great time! Zoo Boo is an event where kids and their parents get to come and celebrate Halloween at the Memphis zoo. As a volunteer, I got to interact with the kids and hand out candy. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so this was the perfect volunteer opportunity for me. It was honestly a blast, and I can't wait to help again next year!
I am so happy that I got to go back to the Appling site to administer Covid vaccines. It was, again, such a rewarding experience. I got to meet so many different people. I always feel that I am making a huge impact on people's lives when I get to give Covid vaccines. It could end up saving many lives! I am elated that I get to be a part of that progress.
I got the chance, through the nursing program at University of Memphis, to volunteer at the Appling Road Covid Clinic and give vaccines! This was an amazing experience, and it gave me a chance to practice skills that I learned my first semester of nursing school. Due to the pandemic, we have not gotten much practical experience. This was a great way to help the community and get much needed experience at the same time! I would love to go back and do it again!
