It’s a 5 star rating doing this kind of work, but being rained on killed my mood a little!! It’s okay though, I still managed to pick up more stuff than I thought. A whole of wet, yucky cigarette butts, beer cans, and a plastic jug. And styrofoam cups. I was dedicated to finishing my hours, and I’m glad I’ve put in my time. This really has taught me some grand lessons :)
A splendid day!! I helped make a display for some glass pumpkin housewares (which when I saw someone checking it out and grabbing stuff from it, I felt proud); wiped off a lot of dusty furniture and made it look spiffy, and I cleaned in the break room. I can’t stress enough how inspiring it is to work with the small team there. I can tell they love what they do, there’s a joy I see, even when it’s hard. I respect the staff immensely.
I have not been up this early in ages, so I had a slow, groggy start. But it was beautiful morning, and then around 8, it started getting hot. This was my time to clear my mind and prepare for my day, and I had a pleasant time.
Today was a busy day!! A lot of stuff to put up, helped move a couch, really put my body into it today, haha!! It was a great time!
I’ve never been to Apple Seeds, so I was excited to walk up to the cute little farm. Seeing all the gardens and fruit trees was soul warming, and packing the veggies proved to be a fun time :)
This store operates with a small team, and to quote one of the staff members, “This is like running one massive garage sale, every day.”
I had fun, it felt rewarding, and I have immense respect and awe for the people who maintain this store.
The staff were friendly!! They had shelve things for the hour I was there, and it was calming. I would do it again!
I volunteered from 6:00pm to 10pm at the Dream Big Charity Gala and I had no idea what to expect, in a good way! I had more fun than I expected! I enjoyed helping with the carnival games and everyone had fun at my little balloon stand. Quite an amazing time!
Felt groggy that morning, but all was well. It's soothing being outside before it gets blazing hot. There were several cigarette butts right at Prospect near the bench. A lot of trash likes to make its way toward the train tracks, and it gets difficult to go get it. Again, near the apartments I found a Scarlet Letter can and other "festive" items. It was a pleasant hour.
I hadn't gone out and done this in months, so it was refreshing to go out in the morning. There wasn't much too much to pick up, so it was able to enjoy the walk on the trail more. A few plastic bottles, some solo cups.. what sucks is that most of the trash I find is always around the Frisco apartments. The kids don't know how to behave.
