For a long time, every night that I have been on duty, a group of 3-4 security guards spend all of their time in a group at the main entrance, sometimes even blocking the walkway. And what they are doing is entertaining themselves, with their cell phones or in a conversation circle. Seemingly, they are not assigned particular areas to 'guard' and it appears there is no supervision. As they receive payment for such guard services, this is a negative volunteer experience. .
The African music was really enjoyable. Extra good to not have continuous rock bands. I would like to see more ethnic music of all types (and this promotes ethnic unity).
It was a good experience to be a volunteer for the Levitt Shell summer season, thanks to our coordinator Nancy Agee. And, I must say, Ann Pitts is a top-notch director of the whole operation. In both cases, my statements are based on knowing from experience the difficulties involved in staging shows. don h.
Fans are a nice hospitality gesture. People smile when you give them one.
A person complained about lack of grass someplace in the audience area. He said it was just dirt and was not like this last year. Jasmine and Ken were excellent greeters.
The important greeter function is only partly accomplished unless all entrances are staffed for the duration of a show, to include when people are leaving as well as arriving. dh
